Pricing & Engagements
Morgan Business Counsel approaches pricing with the same principles that guide our legal work: clarity, intention, and senior judgment.
Our clients are typically navigating consequential business decisions—transactions, financings, ownership changes, or periods of growth where the cost of missteps is high. In those moments, predictability matters, but so does flexibility. We structure our engagements to balance both.
How We Price Our Work
Most of our work is billed on an hourly basis. Complex transactional and advisory matters often evolve as information develops, stakeholders change, or negotiations unfold. Hourly billing allows us to apply real-time judgment without forcing artificial constraints that can undermine outcomes.
What differentiates our approach is not the billing model—it is how matters are scoped, staffed, and executed.
Clients work directly with senior counsel. Engagements are intentionally defined. Work is focused on decisions and outcomes that materially matter, not unnecessary production.
Flat Fees and Predictability
Where scope and deliverables can be clearly defined, we are happy to offer flat-fee arrangements.
Flat fees are commonly used for:
- Discrete transactions or transaction phases
- Defined advisory engagements
- Governance or ownership restructurings
- Ongoing general counsel relationships with agreed parameters
We base flat fees on experience and precedent, with a clear-eyed assessment of complexity—not on volume assumptions. The goal is predictability without sacrificing rigor.
We also routinely provide fee estimates, phase-based pricing, or capped arrangements for clients who value upfront clarity.
What Clients Can Expect
Regardless of pricing structure, clients can expect:
Transparent conversations about scope, assumptions, and cost
Clear alignment between work performed and business objectives
Senior legal judgment applied where it matters
No surprise billing driven by overstaffing or misaligned incentives
We do not sell documents. We do not operate on a volume model. We sell judgment—supported by experience, precedent, and disciplined execution.
Initial Conversations
Initial conversations are focused and deliberate. We discuss the substance of the matter, timing, complexity, and the most appropriate engagement structure before work begins.
If you are seeking thoughtful legal counsel, predictable pricing, and senior judgment without unnecessary friction, we welcome the opportunity to connect.
